Michael Gembola

Michael is originally from South Carolina, and before moving to Virginia he served as a counselor in Pennsylvania and on church staff as Director of Congregational Care and Discipleship. He is an ordained minister (PCA) and licensed professional counselor (VA, PA).

He holds masters degrees from Westminster Seminary in Counseling (MAC) and in Biblical Studies (MAR), and Certificates in Professional Counseling and Global Trauma Recovery from the Missio Graduate School of Counseling. He has taught seminary courses and provided lectures at BRITE, Westminster, Missio, Heritage, Santiago, Southeastern, and at CCEF. He serves on the steering committee of the Christian Counseling Center Collaborative and on the advisory board of The Lampstand.

He is the author of Anxious about Decisions: Finding Freedom in the Peace of God (New Growth, 2022) and After an Affair: Pursuing Restoration (P&R, 2018) and several articles, and he serves as consulting editor for the Journal of Biblical Counseling. Publications and projects can be followed on Substack and Academia.

He and his wife Kelly live in Roanoke with their two sons and daughter.

His areas of focus include marriage, anxiety (especially OCD), and ministry leader issues. He serves at our Roanoke and Christiansburg offices.
