Amy Carroll

Licensed Professional Counselor

Amy grew up in the Tidewater area of Virginia but has called the Smith Mountain Lake/Roanoke area home since 2016.   She has recently retired from her job of 21 years as a homeschooling mom of three and is excited to now follow God’s lead into full time work as a counselor.  Her heart is for helping others find rest in Christ amid life’s circumstances and she believes the Gospel is our source of comfort, healing, true rest, and peace.

Amy’s previous areas of experience are in marriage, family, individual and group therapy. She has extensive experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief, foster and adoption, trauma, care-giver hardships, domestic violence, and working with the at-risk youth population through equine-assisted counseling.

Amy obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA in 2003 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She holds a license in professional counseling in Virginia and is also dually advanced trained and certified as a Mental Health Professional and Equine Specialist with the Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA).  She enjoys spending time on her farm surrounded by many kinds of animals including goats, horses, dogs, cats, cows, chickens and one very mischievous donkey!
